Ecological commitment
Our commitment to the environment.
The impact of digital technology on the environment is a challenge our generation must face. We want to be a responsible and transparent player in this transition.
We don't claim to be perfect. We're moving forward, step by step, towards more responsible hosting.
The facts
Digital has an environmental cost.
—
Global GHG emissions
Digital represents 3.8% of annual greenhouse gas emissions — more than civil aviation.
—
Energy for cooling
On average, 40% of a datacenter's energy is consumed by air conditioning — not by the servers themselves.
—
Internet traffic in 5 years
Global traffic doubles every 5 years. Without optimization, the digital carbon footprint will follow the same curve.
Did you know?
What is our impact as users?
Video streaming
In 2018, online video generated 300 million tonnes of CO₂ — as much as Spain, representing 1% of global emissions.
A simple email
A 1 MB email emits 20g of CO₂ over its full lifecycle — the equivalent of a 60W light bulb turned on for 25 minutes.
Daily browsing
An average internet user consumes about 365 kWh of electricity and 2,900 liters of water per year just from browsing the web.
Our approach.
PUE 1.1 (energy coefficient)
Our datacenter achieves a PUE of 1.1 — among the lowest in the industry. Nearly all energy goes directly to powering servers.
Free cooling system
Cooling through natural outdoor air. During heat waves, adiabatic cooling kicks in. No traditional air conditioning.
Heat reuse
Hot air from servers is reconditioned to heat surrounding office buildings. Nothing is wasted.
Eco-friendly hardware
Low energy consumption servers. Latest-gen processors optimized for the best performance-per-watt ratio.
We're honest: our carbon footprint isn't zero. But we're improving every day. Choosing Oxygenserv means supporting a host that makes real efforts rather than greenwashing.
