Ready to crank up the stakes? Turn on PvP and make your Soulmask server thrilling, competitive, and unpredictable. A few clicks and your world gets intense.
Prerequisites
- Access to your Oxygenserv panel (email and password)
- A running Soulmask server service
- Permission to stop/start the server from the panel
- A recent backup of your config files
- Another player available to test damage in-game
Detailed steps
-
Log in and stop the server cleanly
Open your Oxygenserv panel and select your Soulmask service. Click the red “Stop” button. Wait until the console stops printing new lines and the status shows “Stopped”. Don’t proceed while it’s still shutting down. If it hangs, wait 30 seconds and try stopping again. -
Enable PvP from the Startup tab
Go to the “Startup” tab. Find the “Enable PVP” field (or similarly named variable) and select “PVP” from the dropdown. If it’s a toggle, switch it to “Enabled”. Save/apply changes (green “Save” button). If the description asks for a specific value, type exactlyPVP. -
Alternative: set it via the INI configuration
Open “Files” > “File Manager”. EditSaved/Config/WindowsServer/ServerGameSettings.ini(path may vary; look forServerGameSettings.ini). Check for a game mode key. Depending on the build, you may seeEnablePvPorServerType: a) if you seeEnablePvP=false, change toEnablePvP=true; b) if you seeServerType=PVE, change toServerType=PVP. If neither exists, add the appropriate line used by your version, e.g.,EnablePvP=true. Click “Save”. -
Restart and confirm PvP is active
Return to the “Console” tab and click the green “Start” button. Watch the boot logs: you should see a line indicating the game mode (common examples: “Mode: PVP”, “PvP enabled”, or any line containing “PVP”). If you don’t, use your browser’s find to search for “PVP”. If you spot a syntax error, re-open the INI and fix typos (e.g.,EnablePvpvsEnablePvP), then restart again. -
Test in-game and fix common blockers
Join your server with a friend. Attack each other while not in the same tribe/team: if damage applies, PvP works. If no damage is dealt, check side settings that can block PvP—some versions have peace/event windows: look for keys likePeaceMode=trueand set them tofalse. Save any change and restart to apply.
Tips & optimization
– Always back up: download ServerGameSettings.ini before edits so you can roll back instantly.
– Avoid duplicates: keep only one active key (EnablePvP=true or ServerType=PVP). Conflicting entries cancel each other out.
– Communicate rules: add a MOTD about PvP and any fair-play windows if you use them.
– Restart after changes: INI tweaks won’t apply until a restart.
– Test off-peak: do a quick 2-player damage test before prime time.
FAQ
I don’t see the “Enable PVP” option in Startup. What now?
Edit ServerGameSettings.ini instead. Search for EnablePvP or ServerType and set EnablePvP=true or ServerType=PVP. Save and restart. If it’s still ignored, remove duplicates and double-check exact spelling (case-sensitive keys may apply).
Server still runs PvE after restart. Why?
You likely have conflicting settings or edited while the server was running. Stop the server, keep only one consistent PvP key (EnablePvP=true or ServerType=PVP), save, then restart. Also review any peace/event mode (e.g., set PeaceMode=false).
Do I need to wipe the map to enable PvP?
No. Switching to PvP doesn’t require a wipe. Only consider a wipe for balance reasons, and always test in-game first.
